Trans-esophageal echocardiography (TEE) is a specialized ultrasound technique that provides detailed images of the heart similar to GI Endoscopy. A small, flexible probe with an ultrasound transducer is inserted through the mouth and into the esophagus, allowing a clearer view of the heart's structures (especially the posteriorly located ones) and blood flow.

TEE is particularly useful for:
